We are set loose to use any other pantry ingredients we would like but the dish must feature the ingredients listed in the challenge. It's our small version of chopped. This month's ingredients were Sausage and Rice.

Smoked Sausage with Dirty Rice
This quick and easy one dish dinner is ready in under an hour. Perfect for those crazy days when you have been running all day and are famished.Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 30 MinTotal time: 40 MinIngredients
- 1 c. white rice
- 2 1/2 c. chicken broth
- 12 oz. smoked kielbasa, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 Vidalia onion, diced
- 1 stalk celery, sliced
- 1/2 green pepper, diced
- pinch of cayenne
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Make the rice according to package directions using broth instead of water.
- While rice is cooking, heat a skillet over medium high heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned. Add the garlic, onion, celery and green pepper. Cook until softened about 5 minutes. Add the remaining 1/2 c. of broth and cayenne. Cook until liquid has reduced a little and then stir in the rice. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
