This sandwich is a great way to use up some of your leftover Easter ham this year.......
While reading this 5th book of the Dan Armstrong cozy mystery series, Armstrong stops on his way to the Matterhorn where a murder has occurred to have lunch. He orders a Croque Monsieur.
Dan Armstrong is a retired British police detective living in Italy and now working as a Private Investigator with his sidekick, Oscar, a black lab he acquired in the first book of this series.
In this story, Dan and Oscar head to the Matterhorn where a murder has taken place when a group of UFO enthusiasts gather to a suspected UFO landing site.
Dan and Oscar are met with a varied group of ufologists one of whom is a murderer, unless you want to believe their story of a UFO landing and the death being caused by the blast of it taking off again.
Like all of the mysteries in this series, Dan figures out the truth with his trusty companion, while enjoying wonderful food and wine.

Yum, yum!! I do like a good Croque Monsieur, or a Croque Madame which is similar but with an egg on top. I have, however, had some pretty average croques too.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first experience with them. I was surprised at how rich they are.
