Sue of Palatable Pastime invited us all to join her in sharing some fun recipes that you would serve up at a Halloween Party.  Let's see what everyone brought to this hauntingly good time.......

Jack O Lantern Cheese Bites

I served these up as an appetizer when we were celebrating Amy's 49th birthday.  When the Angel Face arrived and counted the candles she said "49, Oh My Gosh Aunt Amy, that's almost 50!!!  I shoved one of these little Jack O Lantern Cheese Bites into her mouth before she could say anything further LOL.

Jack O Lantern Cheese Bites

These whimisical little fellas only take 3 ingredients and 20 minutes time.  You are rewarded big time for this minimal amount of work and time.  Babybel cheese is wrapped in refrigerated crescent rolls and baked to a golden brown.  When they come out of the oven, gently press the facial features onto the rounds to create your Jack O Lantern effect.

Make sure you eat them while they are still warm so you get to enjoy the gooey delicious cheese as it oozes onto the pastry.  I served them up with some apple slices and they were a perfect accompaniment to the bread and cheese.

  • 8 Babybel Cheese Rounds
  • 1 pkg. refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 mini orange pepper

  3. Wrap the crescent roll around the cheese, covering completely. Place onto a baking sheet, seam side down.
  4. Make stems for the pumpkins using the snipped off pieces and press onto the top of each round.
  5. Bake in a preheated 375* oven for 12-15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  6. While pumpkins are cooking, cut a slice from the pepper and then cut into 8 thin slices for the mouths and 16 small triangles for the eyes.
  7. Place the pepper onto the pumpkins as soon as you remove them from the oven, pressing down slightly.
