This cocktail is the official drink of Catalina Island according to their website. I learned of it when making a cake named after the cocktail. I shared the recipe for Buffalo Milk Swiss Roll on Tuesday. When reading about this cocktail, I noted that we had all the ingredients needed and asked Frank to make us one to try.
They were delicious so I decided to make the cake for our daughter's birthday and to start the celebration with these drinks.
The cocktail and the cake were equally enjoyed. One before dinner and one after dinner, however, this cocktail is like drinking a liquid chocolate banana and would be a perfect after-dinner cocktail.
The recipe on the website called for this cocktail to be garnished with whipped cream, nutmeg, and a slice of banana. That would have been beautiful but we chose to serve them up in Martini glasses.
On the Island they refer to this as Kahlua and Cream gone crazy. I think that is a perfect description. I also think this would make a wonderful frozen cocktail substituting ice cream for the light cream. Cheers!!
Last night Frank and I went to the theater for Pretty Woman. It was a great show. Very high energy and a lot of fun.
Tonight we are going to dinner at Nicole and Pierre's. The Angel Face is spending the night with us on Saturday for a Movie and Popcorn night. Sunday afternoon we are going to a local theater for the play, Bonnie and Clyde, with the Bonacorsis. We will have dinner at the Marine City Fish Company following the play.
