My first thought was, of course, a dessert but having just come off of Summer Dessert Week I decided to go savory.
I found a recipe at Epicurious for Peach Lacqured Chicken Wings and decided to make that. However when I went to the grocers I spied this jar of Hot Pepper Peach Preserves and grabbed it.
The recipe called for peach preserves seasoned with ginger, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes so I figured these preserves would work perfectly and they did.
I seasoned the wings with seasoning salt and put them in a hot oven for 15 minutes. I then flipped them and let them cook for another 15 minutes. I brushed them with the preserves that I melted in the microwave and then placed them under the broiler for another 10-12 minutes until the glaze was set and the chicken was cooked through and browned in spots.
They were dinner for the 3 of us one night with a side of slaw and potato salad. I made another batch with the remaining preserves as an appetizer with friends before dinner.

Peach Glazed Chicken Wings
These amazing wings are so very easy to make and absolutely delicious. I found a hot pepper peach jam at my grocers, making it a three ingredient dish. Can't ask for more than that.....
Prep time: 5 MCook time: 45 MTotal time: 50 M
Ingredients:
- 2-3 lbs chicken wing segments
- Seasoning salt to taste
- 6 oz. hot pepper peach jam
- 1 T. water
Instructions:
- Wash and pat dry the chicken wing segments. Place onto a broiler pan covered with a rack and sprinkle with the seasoned salt.
- Bake in a preheated 475* oven for 15 minutes. Flip the pieces and bake for another 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile place the preserves and water in a small bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments on high until melted. Set aside.
- Remove the wings from the oven and set to broil. Brush the wings with half of the melted preserves and place under the broiler for 6 minutes. Flip the wing segments, brush with remaining preserves and broil for another 6 minutes, until wings are cooked through and browned in spots.

Oooh, what a great idea, Wendy! It just so happens that when I made my regular peach jam a few weeks back, I also made a few jars of habanero peach jam which would be perfect for wings.
ReplyDeleteIt will be wonderful Stacy. Enjoy
DeleteI love that we went savory on this event. I have some apricot jam I'll have to try. But once I get some peaches in, I'll whip up some peach jam and give this a go.
ReplyDeleteYes, any jam will work. It's not peach season here for another month.

DeleteHi, I just discovered your recipe today for the peach glazed wings. I have had this idea in my head for a while had no idea some people have already done it. I'm going to try it your way in the oven and I'm also going to fry some and do it that way as well. So I'm doing peach fried chicken wings two ways. Thanks for your idea. Happy cooking continue to be great.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, please let me know how they turn out and which style you prefer. Thanks for stopping by.
