The weather around here has still been humid with thunderstorms but the Teen and her friend managed to fit in some pool time in between the storms.
Today and tomorrow are supposed to be beautiful but then the storms are scheduled to return on Sunday....boooo!!
Our back yard is a swamp and cannot be mowed. We called a guy out to take a look and ask about installing drainage into the woods. He can't do anything until late summer or early fall when the yard is dry. He further said that our water table is only 2 feet down in this area so there is not a lot to be done other than order up sand and build the yard up higher. That is not in the budget for this year so I guess we will be living with an unmown backyard for a while yet.
Eventually this rain has got to end right? At least it is only our back yard. This is a photo taken by a friend who lives in the same city as our daughter Jessica. This is about a mile from her home. See that house there? Our nephew, Randy, built that house. Our son, Chuck, lived on the street behind it. This kind of makes our complaints about a flooded back yard seem kind of trite.
Tomorrow we will be celebrating Pentecost. This is the day that Christians remember the gift of the Holy Spirit that was sent down by our Lord to help us live and spread his teachings. It is the final day that choir will sing at Masses until the Fall.
During the day tomorrow I will be making some cupcakes. We have a surprise birthday party tomorrow for a neighbor from my first house that we bought in 1977. I spent many a day sitting on the front porch with this neighbor watching my kids play. I am excited to see her again. After her surprise we will be heading over to Aunt Irene's. Her birthday is Monday and I am taking her some cupcakes so we can celebrate with her as well. It has been way too long since we've had a visit.
The rest of the week is dictated by early school hours and the needs of the Angel Face and the Teen. Then School's Out for Summer and we can start winding down and settling into our new pace.
I am writing my Weekly Menu with the positive outlook of clear skies and sunshine....I hope it happens.

ReplyDeleteNo Karen, May is normally lovely here in Michigan. All of this rain is very unusual, our lakes are at an all time high. Lots of flooding and damage. Hopefully it will ease up now.
