When we got home, I got busy putting together Stuffed Cabbages for tomorrow. Frank had a hot toddy with a Nyquil chaser and was in bed by 8 pm. I hope he kicks this fast. He has had more than his fill of stress resulting in first his back going out and now his resistance being low causing him to get sick.
The stuffed cabbages are in the crockpot to cook while we sleep so that tomorrow we just need to rewarm them. We will be going to 9:30 Mass tomorrow so that we can be to Roz and Ron's by Noon.
During the running around today we began listening to another audio book and it occurred to me that I never shared the last audio book that we finished a few days ago.
I got this book because it was on special at Audible.com. I had never heard of it nor have I read any books by this author. This book, like Gone Girl and Little Girl Lost, has not one redeeming character in it. Every single character is a bad guy except for a little 5 yr old girl who has been kidnapped. Unlike those two books, however, Shady Cross is funny!! I love the guy that did the narration and even though the premise of the book (the kidnapping) was terrible and I almost didn't keep listening to it when at the very beginning some terrible things were happening to a child, I was glad I did. It is a dark comedy that keeps you rooting for the protagonist who, against his better judgement sets out to save "some kid he doesn't even know". He has less than 24 hrs. to do so and it is an action packed adventure.
I sure hope Frank gets to feeling better real soon. I have been wondering about the Audible.com membership. Do you like it? Do you think it is pricey! I am going to check it out with the free one month trial and download The Girl on the Train since I can't find the book in my Nook Color and I wanted to review it again before our book club talks about it. This book sounds fascinating. I will look into it.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a little pricey but decided to do it anyway because you get a free book each month so that kind of makes up for the cost of membership. My intent was to use the books to encourage me to get on the treadmill and listen while I walk but it turns out we have been driving so much that most of my listening is happening then. Frank is feeling a little better this morning.
