The Sunday Funday Bloggers are sharing Side Dishes perfect for your Memorial Day BBQ.......
Sunday Funday Logo

This weekend is historically the first big bbq weekend of the summer.  We are given an extra day each year to pay homage to those who have died fighting for our freedom.  We spend it in celebration.  This seemed odd to me for many years and then I realized that we do and, in my opinion, should celebrate when those we love have died.

We celebrate their lives and contribur lives.  We hold parties and gather with food to share our memories and comfort one another.  As a Christian, I celebrate that this is the onset of their eternal life with God and that I will be reunited with them upon my death.

So go ahead and have that barbecue.  Crack open a beer.  Pour a wine.  Have a cocktail.  We will toast those who have died for us and celebrate the blessings that their sacrifice helped to provide.

Here are some recipes for your barbecue thanks to our host this week, Stacy of Food Lust People Love.....

I'm looking forward to reading all these recipes.  Most of my summertime meals are cooked and eaten poolside.
