Chablis and Grilled Shrimp; Summertime must be near #PureChablis #Winophiles

I received 3 bottles of Chablis wine from #PureChablis for use in this month's Winophiles event.  All writings and opinions are strictly my own.  I received no monetary compensation.

Chablis Wine

The French Winophiles are talking about All Things Chablis today........
Jill of L'Occasion invited the members to join her in exploring Chablis in this post and then get together for Twitter chat this morning at 11 AM ET to share our thoughts.  We would love to have you join us.  You will find us by following #Winophiles and #PureChablis.  These are the topics we will be discussing......

Chablis Wine

I opened a bottle of the Bernard Defaix Petit Chablis.  This wine comes from a 4th generation family of wine growers.  It is 100% Chardonnay with no oak and is processed slowly and softly for the extraction of the best juices.

It poured a lovely light gold and that first sip was a delight of juicy liveliness.  My first thought was that it was a perfect "summer" wine.  One that I would love to sip out on the deck while reading a good book or lounging in the pool. It is clear, crisp and bright.  Perfect all by itself but I do like having a glass of wine with dinner each night.

The sun has been out all week here in Michigan and the temps are warming.  I was making Grilled Shrimp Skewers for dinner and knew that this wine would pair nicely with them.  It is smooth and well rounded with the buttery heaviness that I love in Chardonnay.

Chablis and Grilled Shrimp

I am anxious to take a look at the others pairings as I still have two lovely bottles of Chablis that I am looking forward to opening.  Hope to see you at chat today.  Be there or Be Square as they say.......

  1. You got it rewritten! Sorry for the hassles. And, for what it's worth, I do see the padlock on your url, meaning that it IS secure. Phew. Love your dish, too.

  2. Good Morning Wendy! I'm glad to see the day is off to a good start! I remember having a Petit Chablis a while back and noting that it didn't have any overt butter notes, there can be so much diversity in styles in this region, but all with that underlying brightness of Chablis. There is so much variety with soil, aspect and then winemaking choices. It makes it really fun to explore.

  3. Warming temps and Chablis naturally lead to grilled shrimp. Makes sense and sounds delish!

  4. The Bernard Defaix Petit Chablis is lean and clean. I love it a lot too. The grilled shrimp skewers look great. If there's no rain, I'll open my BBQ on Memorial Day weekend.

  6. Chablis is definitely a great wine for the warmer weather and lighter fare. The Bernard Defaix Petit Chablis was light and crisp and perfect for grilled shrimp.

  7. I like the twist to shrimp by grilling it. It probably adds a little smokey edge to the wine that would pair with that lemon pop. Yum!
