Butter Beans and Sausage

I was inspired to make this meal after watching the film, Knives Out........

I was inspired to use my Instant Pot because today is Multi Cooker Monday hosted by Sue of Palatable Pastime.  Each month Sue invites us to join her in sharing recipes using small kitchen appliances.  Let's see what the others are serving up today........

I am hosting this month's Food n' Flix and have invited others to join me in watching the film, Knives Out.  You are invited too.  You can learn how to join in my invitation post.

Knives Out movie

I had a lot of fun watching this dark comedy about a dysfunctional family whose very rich father had died of an apparant suicide that is being anonymously investigated as a murder.

There is an all star cast for your enjoyment pleasure including Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis and Chris Evans.  There is not a ton of food inspiration but there is enough to get us by and if you really pay attention you might even come up with something the others don't.

scene from Knives out

I took my inspiration from a restaurant scene in which grandson, Ransom, takes his grandfather's nurse, Marta,  out to dinner in an attempt to extract information and plant ideas.  He ordered her beans and sausage ensuring that she would tell only the truth.  You see, she has a condition that causes her to vomit whenever she tries to lie.

  3. I always cook beans in my stove top pressure cooker so the Instant Pot makes perfect sense. Your beans do look tender and creamy!

    1. Thanks Stacy. The only stove top pressure cooker I have is for canning and it is huge so I've never pressure cooked dinners until I got the Instant Pot.

  7. Such a fun film. I loved it even more the second time around. This scene was probably the most food worthy but I couldn't get past Ransom's motives (plus the whole lying response). :O

    1. The default setting on my Instant Pot Chili/Bean button is 30 minutes on high pressure. Hope that helps.
