Korks and Kisses and the Weekly Menu

Last Sunday we attended a Wine Tasting Dinner with our good friends, Bob and Cathy, who live in Houghton Lake.

It was a wonderful time and I can't wait to share it with you......

This was our 4th time attending these dinners with Bob and Cathy.  Bob and Cathy attend all of them and you will see why.  But first....a story.

See the woman in red in the above photo?  Her name is Kathy.  She is talking to the owner of Springbrook Inn, in which East Bay Grill is located, whose name is also Kathy (Grover).  Kathy is the sister in law of Scott, to whom Kathy Grover just became engaged.  This was Kathy's first time at the wine tasting dinner and she was relating to Kathy Grover that she had conducted a google search and had found out all about it in an article she had found.

Kathy (in red) and her husband were seated next to us during the dinner.  They were a lovely couple and very interesting to speak with. They had recently moved back to northern Michigan from Florida.  As each course came out, I would take a photo.  Frank explained to them that I wrote a blog and gave them a card with my blog address on it.  Kathy said "Oh, I know this blog!"  She had found this article when looking for information about the dinner.  This was the article that she was telling Kathy Grover about.  Kathy had so many nice, complimentary things to say about the article and said that she will be following me regularly.   So if you are reading this Kathy I would like to thank you for your kindness and tell you how wonderful it was to meet you.

Following the photos clockwise you will see the courses as they were served:
  • Shrimp Cocktail with Parmesan and Radish Salad paired with Ramos Vinho Verde from Portugal.
  • Prosciutto stuffed Chicken with Asiago Risotto, Broccolini and Mushroom Sauce paired with Boen Tri-Appellation Pinot Noir from California.
  • Filet Mignon with Duchess Potatoes, Chasseur Sauce and Roasted Carrots paired with Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley
  • Chocolate and Cherry Layer Cake paired with Santero Moscato Passion Fruit from Italy
It was another amazing meal and, of course, it was made all that much better spending the evening with dear friends and new acquaintances.

We came home to a bathroom that is slowly but surely coming to completion.  The weather has been dreadful. The Teen had two more days of no school and was previously scheduled to have today and Monday off for Winter Break.

This weekend, Marissa has a retreat with our church youth group.  Frank and I will be working on the bathroom but I think we will find a day to go out and enjoy some time together.  Originally, I thought Marissa was leaving this evening but she doesn't leave until 6:30 am tomorrow so we will eat in tonight.

Monday Frank, Marissa and I are taking Nic and Pierre out for lunch for her birthday.  Amy and Doug have the day off so they will join us as well. We will have a light dinner since we will be stuffing ourselves at lunch.

Friday we are having a Mardi Gras gathering at our house with some of the neighbors, Bob and Cathy and John and Kirsten.

This is my menu for the party and below you will find my Weekly Menu.  Please stop by and get updates on the bathroom remodel, crossing my fingers that it is done midweek so I can get ready for the party.
