The Celebration continues....and the Weekly Menu

Jane Klik

We have spent the last 3 days celebrating the life on my Mother in Law, Jane Klik.  We had, as Mom had requested, a traditional Polish Funeral.  This means at least 2 days of viewing, Polish music playing in the background, both the Polish and American flag proudly displayed, food provided for all visitors throughout the visitation and flowers....lots and lots and lots of flowers!!!!  It concluded today with Mass which included traditional Polish hymns and then a full luncheon banquet with an open bar so that many toasts and much good cheer could be shared.

We get tomorrow off and then on Monday morning just the immediate family will be going to the interment at the cemetery.  We'll take a couple day break before getting together again as a family to work on all of the thank you cards.  That should take a full day with all of us working together.

Slowly life will get back to normal or maybe not to slowly in this household.  Tomorrow we are meeting all of the kids at Nicole's restaurant for dinner after which we will be bringing Little Miss home with us for a few days while her Mama gets a well deserved break. Luckily Frank is officially retired as of this past Monday so he will be here too.  It takes a village to raise a child and it takes two grandparents to chase around an active toddler.

I am closing this post with the Weekly Menu. Weekly Menu planning is even more important during these extremely busy times.  Otherwise you find yourself standing in the kitchen at 5 pm, starving and wondering what to make for dinner and if cookies would suffice.  They have in the past but not this week when I need to feed my little Angel Face.

  1. I've been thinking about you and Frank! That is quite a celebration of life!! I love that idea of an open bar. I need to request that for my funeral services! Everyone should lift up their glass and say what they really think about me. LOL! Your menu sounds good. I am going looking for that Italian chicken recipe! Have a good weekend Wendy. I hope you guys get a break yourselves soon. You will both deserve it!!

  3. I am very proud to be a member of the Klik clan. Aunt Jane was and will always be thee best. I am forever grateful that she graciously allowed me into her bedroom chat area some time ago. We must have talked for about 5 hours. I will never ever forget the things she shared. Rita
