What Alice Forgot...

I just finished reading What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty,  It is the first novel I have read by this author.  I LOVED it.  I think that it wasn't so much about what Alice forgot as it was about what she remembered.  Alice suffered a blow to the head causing her to lose 10 yrs of her life.  It was more PTSD than the blow to the head but she did not realize that because....she couldn't remember. During that 10 yrs Alice had gone from being a happy go lucky, catch as catch can type of person to a stoic, I can do it all myself and no I don't need your help, thank you type person.  She had grown away from those people and things that she loved and were so important to her and filled her life with new people and things that became equally as important.  What Alice remembered when she forgot was that you didn't have to give up the past to have the present.  You can take the good and the bad from each and just be "you".  You don't have to be perfect to prove you are not scatterbrained and unimportant.  You don't have to live your life within strict confines and expect those in your life to stay within those same strict confines. You can allow for a little deviance.  She remembered that the world is not all black and white...there is so much gray.  I think we could all stand to remember a little bit of  What Alice Forgot.

  1. I loved this book. I wonder how I would react if I suddenly forgot ten years of my life
