A Wonderful, Relaxing Day

It didn't start off too relaxing.  I awoke with the dogs wrestling on top of me in my bed....at 5:30 am!!  I banished them and slept fitfully for another hour.  But then I was able to relax with a couple of cups of coffee before my day began.

I straightened up around here a little bit and then went and visited Mom.  We played a few hands of rummy and laughed a lot.  When I was leaving she said "I'm ready".  I asked what she was ready for and she responded to go with me.  I told her she couldn't go with me today because I had things to do.  She responded "More important things than me?"  I said of course not that there was nothing more important than her and she laughed and said "Ok, then hurry back soon".  I assured her I would and she headed outside to sit with Harriet.

Then I came home and enjoyed this perfect, sunshiney day lounging in the pool and finishing my book,  Top Secret Twenty One by Janet Evanovich.  Those of you who are Stephanie Plum fans will love this latest book in the series.  Those of you who don't know what I am talking about, need to run out and get the first book of the series, One for the Money. These books are light, entertaining, easy reads that will have you laughing out loud.

Then I started my new book A Thousand Days in Venice: An Unexpected Romance.  This is the book selection for Cook the Books  club this time and I am excited to get into it and see what kind of meal it inspires me to create.

Speaking of creating meals....Just look at the bounty from  my CSA this week.  I can feel my creative juices flowing...or maybe that is just my mouth watering!!

Kale, Lettuce, Chard, Kohlrabi, Beets, Potatoes, Onion, Asst. Peppers, Purple Beans, Cucumbers and Asst. Summer Squash.

What I love about belonging to my CSA instead of relying solely on Farmer's Markets is that I get things that I would normally not try.  It not only gives me an opportunity to taste different foods but an opportunity to research and try different recipes.  Kind of like Chopped in my country kitchen.

    1. I really did and then after dinner we lounged around in the pool and hot tub some more. We are getting the hang of being empty nesters again!!
